Electroslag remelting.
We take orders for manufacturing of electroslag remelting ingots with diameters up to 500 mm in the conditions of our own production on a furnace of the brand “EShP-2,5LI1”.
At present, the following advantages of electroslag remelting are established over other methods of steel production:
✓ The high quality of an ingot, the absence of sink holes and porosity;
✓ A lower number and smaller size of inclusions;
✓ Uniformity of structure and chemical compound;
✓ The lack of stratification and zonal liquation;
✓ High yield from initial liquid metal to finished products;
✓ The possibility of a controlled reduction in the content of such unsatisfactory elements as sulphur, oxygen, under certain conditions and nitrogen; the ability to preserve alloying elements that can be oxidized, such as silicon and titanium;
✓ The ability to modify the composition of the metal by the application of the appropriate flux;
✓ General improvement in plasticity and impact strength characteristics;
✓ Significant improvement of properties in the transverse direction;
✓ The improvement of properties at elevated temperatures;
✓ Improvement of weldability;
✓ Ensuring such a surface quality that obviates the need for surface trimming during hot processing;
✓ Excellent hot processing characteristics;
✓ The decrease in the volume of hot processing required to achieve a given metallurgical structure in the central part of the finished product;
✓ Relaxation of the conditions for casting of electrodes compared to casting of ingots for direct rolling;
✓ The ability to control the direction and speed of solidification;
✓ The ability to control grain size and carbide size, especially in highspeed tool steels;
✓ The improvement of corrosion resistance;
✓ The melted metal is protected from atmospheric oxidation.
